Student assistant in research project
Our research aims to design and implement a virtual sensor network in combination with a scalable data analytics platform for conducting experiments on existing and future smart city solutions. Besides an online view into the current state of the sensor network, we also investigate the use of machine learning techniques to optimize the maintenance and operation of critical urban infrastructures. The student will be tasked with supporting the research staff in establishing test environments, developing prototypes, deploying the various components of a distributed analytics platform, as well as running specific experiments.
Required qualifications:
- Good knowledge of the programming language Java
- Safe handling of common tools (e.g. git, Maven and lntelliJ)
- Good knowledge of Linux, the command line, and bash scripting
- Good communication skills and good command German & English
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of the Scala programming language
- Experience in working with scalable distributed systems and frameworks like Flink, HDFS, Cassandra, Kafka, and ZooKeeper
- Experience with systems for automatic container deployment and management like Docker and Kubernetes
