Student Assistant WaterGridSense 4.0 project

The BMBF-funded national joint research project "WaterGridSense 4.0" aims to design and implement distributed sensor network in combination with a scalable data analytics platform for providing an online view into the current state of the water networks beneath our cities, as well as, using machine learning techniques to optimize the maintenance and operation of these important facilities.

The student will be tasked with supporting the research staff in establishing test environments, developing prototypes, deploying the various components of a distributed analytics platform, and running experiments.

Required qualifications:
- Good knowledge of the programming language Java
- Safe handling of common tools (e.g. git, Maven and lntelliJ)
- Good knowledge of Linux, the command line, and bash scripting
- Good communication skills and secure German/English

Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of the Scala programming language
- Experience in working with scalable distributed systems and frameworks like Flink, HOFS, Kafka, and ZooKeeper
- Experience with systems like Docker and Kubernetes for automatic container deployment and management
