Content

This seminar covers major topics of context-aware IT-systems. It gives a survey of context-aware computing and special insights in modelling, frameworks, processing, personalization and security/privacy aspects. Also current trends in recommender systems, mobile and ubiquitous computing are discussed.

General Information

  • This seminar will be held in English only
  • It is limited to 12 participants
  • Successful attendance will earn 3 credits (LP), resp. 2 SWS
  • This course is part of module CIT1 alias BINF-KT-CITPJ.W08, module CIT3 alias MINF-KS-SOA.W08, or module CIT4 alias MINF-KS-BKITS.W08.

Target Audience

Bachelor students in (technical) computer science in 5th semester or higher, or master students in (technical) computer science.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of under-graduate courses in (technical) computer science.

Learning Objectives

  • Independently acquire, comprehend and reflect a scientific topic
  • Write a scientific essay (approx. 15 pages)
  • Oral presentation of the topic (45 minutes presentation + 15 minutes discussion)

Will be presented in detail at the preliminary meeting, examples are:

  • context-awareness
  • context modeling and management
  • context sensing
  • context frameworks
  • context processing
  • security and privacy in context-aware systems
  • context-awareness in mobile systems

Literature and Further Material

Recommendations for literature and further material will be given individually at the beginning of the seminar.
